"Do the right thing..."
In our professional lives as in our personal lives, we are often faced with ethical questions--and few would argue that it's not always easy, in our complicated world, to know exactly what 'the right thing' is in every situation. This month's ResearchNOTES offers some sources for straightforward, objective, research-based information about ethics:
Ethics World provides global resources, including views and analysis, survey and trend reports, and news. This well-organized site includes sections on ethics and employees, corporate governance, corporate social responsibility, and public sector governance.
The Markkula Center for Applied Ethics at Santa Clara University conducts programs targeting ethics in all areas of American life. The Center's articles, case studies, blogs, podcasts, and news updates can be easily found through keyword searching or browsing by topic.
The newly-redesigned website of the Ethics Resource Center covers current and emerging issues regarding ethical behavior in organizations. Go to the Resources section to find an ethics toolkit, ethics publications, webcasts, and links to related online resources. In the Services area, sign up for EthicsStat, a newsletter that reports statistics based on the organization's research.
