Staying tech savvy

Like many of you, I spend most of my day working on a computer. My livelihood relies on the internet and the apps on my laptop, tablet, and smartphone - but it's not easy staying ahead of the latest hardware, software, and tech trends. In this ResearchNOTES, you'll read about some tools that I find useful for keeping up with technology...

First, I follow several tech-related websites and subscribe to their RSS feeds for brief daily updates, including:

Mashable covers all things related to social and digital media, technology, and web culture.

CNET News.com offers breaking technology news stories, photos, and video.

The Next Web, with editors and writers from all over the world, provides a global view of the latest tech trends.

When I encounter one of those scary error messages, I copy and paste the text into Google, BoardTracker, or Boardreader to see if it's been discussed in any online forums.

Finally, I trust the professionals. Sometimes, it's not worth the time or effort to do it myself. That's why I've hired the very best tech experts and service providers, for those times when an amateur just won't do.

What are your favorite tools for keeping up with technology?

Best,
Marcy
