Online Help for End-of-Year Charitable Giving
We've become accustomed to turning to the Internet for our holiday shopping
and to send season's greetings. This year, think about going online to take
care of another holiday tradition - those end-of-year charitable
contributions. To help you identify and learn more about nonprofits in need
or make a donation, ResearchNOTES highlights a few nonprofit
evaluation tools:
Consider Charity Navigator (http://www.charitynavigator.org/)
a donor's handbook. In addition to information about specific nonprofits,
look for tips on "intelligent giving," CEO compensation data, news articles,
and other resources.
Guidestar, at
http://www2.guidestar.org/, is an extensive database of nonprofit
organizations. It includes 990s, the IRS reporting form required for
nonprofits with more than $25,000 per year in receipts, which include
detailed financial information.
Finally, when you're thinking about donating time or money to a worthwhile
cause, visit 20+ Charity & Fund Raising Tools at
http://tinyurl.com/ywfzep. It offers
a list of websites with information about specific charities. Fund raisers
will find useful resources here as well.
Happy New Year, and thanks for reading ResearchNOTES. I hope 2010 is
a happy, healthy, and prosperous year for everyone.
Regards - Marcy
