They're checking up on you...

When it comes to online searching, finding information about people can be one of the more difficult tasks. But when you're hiring someone, preparing for a meeting with a prospective client, doing some due diligence, or even just checking out your own online identity, it helps to have a few good sites in your search toolbox. This month's ResearchNOTES covers a few that I've come across lately...

Wink, at http://www.wink.com, searches online profiles contained in social networking sites. They also add Web results not related to online communities. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of results in my test searches.

No matter how good one site appears it's always good to compare results from other trusted sources - especially when it comes to information about people. Try Yahoo! People Search (http://people.yahoo.com) where you can search for someone by name or e-mail address. They also offer a reverse phone look up.

For additional people-finding resources, check out Pandia People Search, at http://tinyurl.com/2wg9qa. It's a large collection of people search tools for genealogy, biographies, public records, home pages, e-mail addresses, phone numbers, and more.

Happy searching - Marcy
